Robert I. Lesser


Robert I. Lesser is a 1981 Dean’s List graduate of the St. John’s University School of Law. He served as an Assistant District Attorney in Kings County, New York from 1981 through 1984 and then joined the law firm of McDonough, Marcus, Cohn & Tretter, LLP in Manhattan. There, his practice mainly concentrated in commercial and construction-related matters, including the negotiation and drafting contracts, and assisting clients through every aspect of commercial litigation and alternative dispute resolution. Mr. Lesser resigned to form his own practice in 1997 and subsequently co-founded the law firm of Greenblatt Lesser LLP where he continued to practice until merging his practice into Goetz Fitzpatrick LLP in May, 2017. He is a partner of the firm.

Mr Lesser’s clients include construction contractors, owners, developers, design professionals, business entrepreneurs, and real estate professionals among others. He continues to concentrate in business, corporate and construction-related offering both business guidance and legal advice.

Mr. Lesser has written and spoken on various topics, including commercial mortgage foreclosures, loan re-negotiation and workouts, construction and business contract clauses. He has recently had his first book published; a work that seeks to aid small law firms and other service-based professionals in creating, growing and maintaining a solid base of loyal clients.

Mr. Lesser is a member of New York and New Jersey bars, and is admitted to practice in the United States District Courts for the Southern and Eastern Districts of New York, the United States District Court for the District of New Jersey, as well as the United States Courts of Appeals for the Second and Third Circuits.
