Brian Farkas focuses his practice on business litigation and intellectual property. He represents clients in litigation in state and federal court, as well as in arbitration and mediation proceedings. In 2018, 2017 and 2016, he has been named a “Rising Star” by Super Lawyers for Business Litigation. Prior to joining Goetz Fitzpatrick as an associate, he was a law clerk with the Firm.

In law school, Brian was Editor-in-Chief of the Cardozo Journal of Conflict Resolution, an academic journal dedicated to arbitration, negotiation and mediation scholarship. He was awarded the Andrew S. Zucker Award for Academic Excellence. Brian served as a Judicial Intern to Hon. Judy N. McMahon of the New York State Supreme Court, and a legal intern at Condé Nast. He graduated with a Concentration in Intellectual Property & Information Law as well as a Certificate in Dispute Resolution.

Brian teaches in Brooklyn Law School’s Mediation Clinic, and serves as a pro bono court mediator in Manhattan Civil Court and Brooklyn Small Claims Court through the New York Peace Institute. His writing on arbitration and mediation has appeared in numerous publications, including the Harvard Negotiation Law Review, New York County Lawyer, Dispute Resolution Journal, Resolutions Roundtable, Alternatives to the High Cost of Litigation, and the Northeastern Law Journal. He is a member of the American Bar Association, New York City Bar Association and the New York County Lawyers’ Association.

Brian is an active volunteer for his undergraduate alma mater, Vassar College, serving as President of the Vassar Club of New York and on the college’s Annual Fund Advisory Council. He is also the chair of Cardozo’s Junior Advisory Board.
