The first annual Goetz Fitzpatrick LLP Scholarship for a master’s candidate in real estate, real estate development or construction management was awarded to Ethiopia native Ermias Hagos, who is graduating with an M.S. degree in construction management from the NYU Schack Institute of Real Estate in May.

Mr. Hagos is a graduate of Addis Ababa University in Ethiopia and holds an M.S. in architecture from Texas Tech University. He has experience as a designer, architectural drafter, supervisor, bid evaluator, project manager, site project architect and has been a member of the faculty of the Department of Architecture at Mekelle University in Ethiopia.

“Growing up in a less privileged community has not only offered financial and academic challenges,” says Hagos, “but, more importantly, it has made me realize the value of education, especially the great program at the Schack Institute.” He adds, “I am interested in making a difference in our community in every possible way. Your scholarship will have a great impact, allowing me to pursue my interest in helping our community.”

Goetz Fitzpatrick LLP created this scholarship for the first time in 2011 to offer support to matriculated master’s candidates in real estate, real estate development or construction management.
