Neal M. Eiseman moderated a panel on “Challenges to the Authority of an Arbitrator” at the New York State Bar Association’s Dispute Resolution Section 2017 Fall Meeting on October 26, 2017. The Meeting, attended by hundreds of mediators, arbitrators and litigators, is one of the largest dispute resolution events of the year.
Speaking alongside Lea Haber Kuck (Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom LLP) and Kabir Duggal (Baker McKenzie LLP), Neal’s panel addressed situations where there were challenges to arbitral authority in both domestic and international proceedings. The panel examined issues including claims that an arbitrator has “exceeded his or her authority” as well as other grounds for vacating awards.
Neal is a mediator and arbitrator with the American Arbitration Association, and speaks and publishes regularly on topics in dispute resolution. He is currently Chair of the ABA’s Committee on Arbitration, as well as a Fellow in the College of Commercial Arbitrators.
