Goetz Fitzpatrick attorney Brian Farkas was interviewed by Martha Stewart Weddings in a piece entitled “What It’s Really Like to Negotiate with Wedding Vendors.” The article explores how couples can most effectively negotiate with the various caterers, DJs, florists and venues involved in planning a wedding. Farkas explains the application of some core negotiation concepts, such as the best alternative to a negotiated agreement, or “BATNA.”
Farkas has taught dispute resolution and negotiation at the City University of New York and Cardozo School of Law, and regularly serves as a pro bono mediator for cases in Small Claims Court in Brooklyn and Manhattan. His writing on dispute resolution has been published in a wide range of legal and industry publications, most recently the Lewis & Clark Law Review and the Harvard Negotiation Law Review.
